Reports to: Director, Engineering & Business Development
The Applications Engineer is responsible for leading the integration of (hardware, software, and firmware) into customer systems and will serve as the primary technical interface between customers.
Effectively interface with customers on the following topics:
1. Measurements While Drilling/Logging While Drilling (MWD/LWD) – specifically directional measurements, telemetry (Mud Pulse or EM), and field/rig operations.
2. MWD tool logic – understand the many configuration settings of standard MWD systems (Tensor, XXT, Bench Tree, etc.) and the effects those settings have on tool operation.
3. Hardware/Firmware/Software interaction – understand the purpose and function of the various aspects of the system, how they interact, and the logic behind them.
The Applications Engineer must be able to effectively communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, technical skill levels, and cultures. They must be able to gather information from multiple sources, analyze that information, work with engineers and technicians to test and troubleshoot issues/fixes, and ultimately provide customers with solutions to their issues. Good written and verbal communication is a key to the success of this position.
1.) Work with customers to integrate into the customer tools and operations.
2.) Serve as the main technical point of contact for customers for any technical issues that arise
3.) Oversee customer failure analysis process (ensure good solutions are being provided in a timely manner) 4.) Train customers on all aspects of the tools (operations, software features, etc.).
5.) Provide technical support to sales and engineering groups
6.) Provide insights regarding the development of new products.
7.) Participate in industry trade association meetings and committees
8.) Represent company at various industry trade shows.

1.) Embedded Systems knowledge 2.) MWD/LWD system knowledge
Education: Bachelor’s Degree Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Controls, Systems, or similar)
Experience: Minimum 5 Years combined experience in Applications Engineering, Systems Engineering, Integration Testing, or similar field
MWD/LWD tool operation experience required
Up to 40% travel
