QUALITY ENGINEER – Cleveland, Ohio area – Connector and cable assemblies
Dynamic, DIB (Defense/Medical Industry Base designated) “Essential”, High‐tech firm in growth mode looking to fill full‐time position for Quality Engineer Team Member. The position provides expert knowledge of and executing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Practices to ensure the effective product translation from design engineering to the manufacturing floor. The Quality Engineer will design and execute quality plans per APQP Practices, ensuring repeatability, reproducibility, and compliance of new products, and effective change control. The Quality Engineer will act as a liaison between quality, manufacturing, and engineering to facilitate a smooth translation of requirements from product development engineering to manufacturing and quality control. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work with design engineering to develop and implement; ‐ Product quality plans in accordance with APQP Practices. ‐ Process FMEAs (PFMEA) that correlate with DFMEAs ‐ Critical to Process (CTP) (pre‐production and production) parameters and control plans ‐ Establish Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters ‐ Manufacturing and assembly process flows and control plans ‐ Material, tooling and test/measurement specifications ‐ Process and work instructions ‐ Packaging specifications ‐ Inspection criteria ‐ Assist with prototype builds ‐ Assist with design verification and validation activities ‐ Perform Sample and First Article Inspections ‐ Initiate improvement activities using Six Sigma Concepts and Statistical Process Control (SPC) Measurements SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May occasionally directly supervise 1‐2 technicians on a temporary, project basis. SUPERVISION RECEIVED ‐ Supervision and guidance related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters. ‐ Report to and Consults with Quality Manager concerning unusual problems and developments. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE ‐ BS degree in Engineering with 5‐7 years in an APQP / Quality Engineer or equivalent role. ISO 9001:2015 knowledge and auditing experience. Considered a plus: ISO 13485 and AS9100 knowledge and experience. ‐ Experience in The Cable and Connector Industry preferred; i.e., Aerospace, Military, and/or Medical Device experience a plus.
