Manufacturing Engineer
Waseca, MN

RF connectors and cable assemblies from DC to 50 GHz. The products support aerospace, military, wireless communications, data networking, test and measurement, telecommunications, broadcast, medical, oil and gas and other harsh environment applications
The position provides technical support to production work cells for continuous improvement with specific focus on quality, productivity, cost reductions, safety and effective corrective actions.
• Develops and maintains detailed work instructions and visual aids for product assembly. Implements procedures that ensure continued operational excellence throughout the plant.
• Interfaces with production operators and technicians to establish Manufacturing standards and methods for inspection, testing, and product qualification.
• Interprets technical documentation related to product manufacturing and acceptability such as schematics; engineering drawings, customer controlled specifications, and military/industry standards.
• Monitors trends in quality data (yields, defects per million, scrap, CARs), executes corrective actions and identifies continual improvement opportunities in response to product and process failures.
• Drives the optimization of process efficiency and effectiveness (yields) through collaboration with production operators, supervisors, and technicians by utilizing effective root cause and corrective action analysis.
• Document process procedures and specifications which conforms to established HAZMET regulations and general safety practices.
• Report directly to Manager. May provide direction to one or more support technicians. Extensive contact with Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, Purchasing and Quality Assurance personnel. Has contact with outside vendors and customers.
• Process selection affects manufacturing ability to respond to customer requirements. Errors would result in scrap or rework of end product. Implement new products in a timely manner. Work on manufacturing problems to reduce costs and increase quality.
• Ability to understand and implement AS9100, ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
• Ability to operate equipment and use tools and techniques effectively, efficiently and in accordance with ergonomic principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Visio a plus).
• Thorough understanding of ISO-9001 and AS9100.
• Ability to implement Lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, TAKT time, level load, KanBan (JIT) systems, TPM systems, Poka –Yoke (Mistake proofing), VSM and Kaizen.
• Practical application of quality tools (DOE, SPC, FEMA, 8D, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of MRP or ERP systems.
• Prior knowledge and experience in the manufacturing and assembly of RF, MW, and Optical connectors and cable products.
• Prior drafting experience (Auto CAD, Microstation, Pro-Engineer) or similar software.
Education and Experience
• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
• 1-5 years relevant manufacturing experience.
• ITAR required the candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
