Engineering Manager

Provides leadership and guidance to the engineering team members for developing, documenting, and implementing overall manufacturing plans for new and existing products while ensuring all cost and quality objectives are achieved in compliance with l quality system requirements and the APQP process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic planning for the engineering department.
• Assist the teams with product design and new product development
• Acts as the principal technical point of contact of the engineering team
• Evaluates manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with equipment vendors,.
• Provide sustaining engineering and post-production support.
• Provide assignments, direction to and manage priorities of the engineering team.
• Lead, mentor and develop the engineering team by providing and arranging training and resources for their professional growth with intent of developing a high performing engineering team.
• Lead, mentor and develop the team to improve systemic quality issues
• Drive and support continuous improvement projects to support global supply-base from a technical standpoint - specifications, material selection, design issues, documentation issues, tooling, and test fixture requirements
• Ensure timely completion and release of all tooling, equipment and processes related to assigned programs. This includes process documentation, tooling and equipment designs, operating instructions, bills of materials, qualification reports, and APQP elements.
• Develop and document process design, supported by manufacturing instructions, packaging plans, ERP BOM’s and routings.
• Responsible for committed on time deliverables and project budgets.
• Provides clear detailed communication with all stakeholders about project status.
• Responsible for new tool designs and existing tool modifications internally and with external sources as a delivered product to the Production Department.
• Supports business development new product costing efforts with generation of tooling and equipment costs, initial process concepts and , feasibility studies
• Supports business development team members by providing technical sales support during the pre-quote and product definition phase of the program.
• Streamline and standardize work processes to achieve greater effectiveness
• Create and deliver presentations and proposals to all levels of management

Technical Degree + Electrical interconnect experience
Working knowledge of DFM concepts, Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
Project management experience – Nice to have.
Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt – is a plus
Knowledge of plastic molded part design, mold design and construction techniques
Working knowledge of progressive dies and metal stampings,
Ability to develop and interpret Quality Systems documentation and requirements such as APQP, PPAP’s, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s, Gage R&R’s capability studies.

Supervision of engineers, engineering technicians and toolmakers, when applicable. The position is responsible for program success through direction, coordination, and leadership of engineering tasks to support program deliverables.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BS in Mechanical Engineering and 7 + years elated experience

COMPUTER SKILLS: MS Office, MS Project, Solidworks, AutoCAD and ERP systems
