Field Application Engineer - Automotive
Michigan– Electrical connectors- Automotive
Minimum of 7 to 10 years of automotive industry experience with a significant portion in a combination of electrical connector and/or terminal design. A strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes is also preferred. Technical expertise in electrical/electronic connectors and contact elements (plated stamping contacts) and a vast knowledge of press-fit technology would be ideal. This is a customer-facing role. During customer visits, the FAE will accompany the Business Development Manager (BDM).
Basic scope of responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support to BDMs during customer visits;
2. Once the BDM receives customer RFQs, they are passed to the FAE;
3. Utilize customer 2D and/or 3D data to understand and assess the opportunity;
4. Meet with customers to clarify the requirements;
5. Facilitate internal meetings to ensure the product aligns with our manufacturing capabilities and preferences;
6. Engage with engineering, manufacturing engineering, and/or outside suppliers to develop a product manufacturing cost;
7. Develop a recommended selling price;
8. Provide the recommended selling price to the Business Development Manager.
9. Support follow-up meetings with customers;
The following expertise will be most helpful:
>Technical experience designing connectors and terminals.
>A strong understanding of the manufacturing processes: Injection molding, Progressive Stamping, Reel-to-Reel Plating, and Automated Component Assembly.
>Knowledge of product cost calculation.
>Strong communication skills.
>Willingness for business traveling within North America.
>Willingness to work in an office in Auburn Hills, MI.
