Vice President, Engineering – rugged high-speed interconnect

The Vice President of Engineering is a senior executive responsible for leading all product development activities. This role partners closely with cross-functional leaders in Finance, Sales & Marketing, and Materials Management to drive innovation, ensure operational excellence, and deliver high-quality products aligned with business and customer requirements.
The VP of Engineering provides both strategic direction and hands-on leadership, ensuring the effective application of engineering resources, the successful execution of development initiatives, and the continuous improvement of processes and technologies.
This position is full-time, onsite, M-F.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the strategic vision, planning, and direction for all product development activities.
• Provide technical leadership and hands-on project management across engineering initiatives.
• Ensure optimal utilization of engineering resources to meet product specifications, timelines, and customer requirements.
• Oversee the full product lifecycle, ensuring products and processes are properly defined, documented, protected (trademarked/patented), and compliant with labeling standards.
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, including senior leaders and directors.
• Establish and enforce formalized processes and best practices to support efficient and scalable product development.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Quality, Finance, and Operations to align engineering efforts with business goals.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive product development experience within connectivity solutions, electronics manufacturing, high-speed ruggedized solutions, or related industries.
• Minimum of 12 years of engineering leadership experience, including managing multi-disciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated success leading engineering teams in the development of high-performance connectivity products such as interconnects or ruggedized data communication solutions.
• Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, signal integrity, high-speed data transmission, and related industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, IEEE).
• Proven ability to align engineering initiatives with manufacturing processes, supply chain considerations, and customer-driven requirements.
• Experience working in a vertically integrated or build-to-order manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on quality, scalability, and time-to-market.
• Strong operational and project management capabilities, including experience implementing formal product development processes (e.g., stage-gate, Agile, or similar methodologies).
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Operations, and Supply Chain to deliver customer-centric solutions.
